We are exposed to many GT-Rs here at AMS and have found a problem on a number of customers cars: moisture and/or standing water in the passenger side foot well. We sourced this problem to water that can leak into the cabin through a main engine wiring harness grommet hidden under the cowl vent along the passenger-side windshield. When the vehicle is exposed to heavy rain or a car wash water drips onto the grommet, seeping into the cabin. This can lead to corrosion buildup and mold growth inside your GT-R. Even worse, an expensive and potentially dangerous failure of the main engine wiring harness or ecu can render your GT-R inoperable.
To solve this problem we created the AMS Nissan GT-R Cowl Splash Shield. This piece was designed to divert runoff water away from the firewall grommet and main engine wiring harness, protecting your GT-R against costly damage. It bolts in using factory mounting points and is hidden from view underneath the factory cowling.
This shield is an absolute must for any GT-R owner who wants to run wires for gauges, electronic boost controllers etc.. through the firewall grommet. In any case, whether you run additional lines through the firewall or leave it as-is, our cowl splash shield is an inexpensive way to protect your investment.
