Ben Graham & AMS prepared Evo X take first place at Road America NASA TT-S season opener.
Ben Graham, April 26th 2009:
This weekend was the season opener for NASA Midwest at Road America. Saturday morning rolled around and Mother Nature wanted to see who was prepared for some spring weather. The day started with rain and showers and never looked back with temps in the mid 50s.
Session One: In the first 20 minutes session the rain started as a light drizzle and got heaver and heavier with every minute. By the end of the session their were standing puddles on the track making it very unpredictable with lots of hydroplaning. I went onto the track for the first time with my newly tuned FP red turbo, tuned on race gas with 35lbs of boost. The factory ECU was not happy with the amount of torque this car is putting out (over 430lbs) and immediately went into limp mode.
Session Two: After much adjustment (thanks Ryan) we turned the boost down in session two to about 27 lbs and the car ran perfect. With the rain still coming down heavily, I pushed the car and ended up in the sand trap at the end of Canada corner, I dont recommend doing this.
Session three: By the third session I had settled down and I turned the best lap time of the day and managed to keep the car on the track. This session would turn out being he driest and fastest of the day. After the third session I was up by 7 seconds over the second place z-06. Enough for a 1st place finish and the second fastest time of the day overall.
As a note: I was running NT01s very slick in the rain.. I will be posting my results as I work to win NASA TT-s nationals in my AMS prepared EVO X. I have attached photos of the weekend for your enjoyment. Keep trackn
I want to thanks the following sponsors: AMS, Bell Incorporated, Forced Performance, ACT clutch
From everyone at AMS congratulations Ben!!! keep pushing that X and winning races!
